Although the AgCO3 did not react with dihydrocodeine, the oxidation occurred using Ag2CO5-Celite. The yield for codeinone is better than 91%. Tetrahydrofurfuryl alc. and 2-hydroxymethyltetrahydropyran were slowly degraded to γ-butyrolactone and δ-valerolactone, resp.
