A mixture of N-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)tetrahydro-2H-thiopyran-4-carboxamide 1,1- dioxide (150 mg, 0.467 mmol), 3-chloro-6-(chloromethyl)pyridazine (152 mg, 0.934 mmol) and potassium carbonate (129 mg, 0.934 mmol) in DMF (3 mL) was placed in a microwave tube and heated at 80 C for 0.5 h. The contents in the flask were diluted with ethyl acetate (30 mL) and water (20 mL). The phases were separated, and the organics washed with brine (2 x 30 mL), dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash silica gel chromatography (ISCO; 4 g SepaFlash Silica Flash Column, Eluent of 0-40% MeOH/DCM gradient 18 mL/min) followed by prep-TLC (SiO2, DCM: MeOH=10:1) to give N-((6-chloropyridazin-3-yl)methyl)-N-(3-(trifluoromethyl) phenyl) tetrahydro-2H-thiopyran-4-carboxamide 1,1-dioxide as an oil.
